Magna Carta Vinyl

Good vibes today as I had my copy of Melanin9's "Magna Carta" album turn up in the post. What's so special about that I hear you say?

Well....it's the vinyl version with added bonus instrumentals on it which is always a good thing. Secondly, and a pretty big thing from me, it's my first time appearing on vinyl. I feature on the tracks "Organized Democracy" and "Marble".

To date this is pretty much my crowning achievement in my DJ career and hope it's the first of many to come.

Respect goes out to Melanin9 for letting me part of this truly great album and Tony Mahoney for producing both tracks

Champions Of Nature - C.O.N Mix CD

Now as you should know by now I'm from the UK, Blighty, Great Britain what ever you want to call this island so naturally I'm going to support the homegrown artists and talent we have.

This CD here I've been after for a good 8 years or so and could never find it or it was always sold out but due to the good man Disorda over at Suspect Packages
I've finally got it in my collection!!

(Check the envelope it turned up in!! Pretty good feeling seeing that on the back I can tell you!)

Said CD is Champions Of Natute - C.O.N mixed by DJ IQ. And if you know who they are you can see why I'm pretty happy right about now!!

Champions Of Nature we're a crew of UK artists who had worked with each other on separate musical endeavours but formed like Voltron to form a UK supergroup consisting of:

Jehst
Apollo
AM
Lewis Parker
Profound
Supa. T
L. Dolo

So basically a group of some of the best lyricists the UK has to offer and thank god they did. Obviously most will know Lewis Parker and Jehst but mans like Profound and Supa T are UK legends in there own right in my eyes.

The CD is a mix of the few tracks they released which you could get on separate records of which I have the "Salsa Smurf" and "F...Off EP" and the only remaining 12" is the C.O.N Artists Vol. 1 which I shall track down at some point. On a side note the track "Easter Island" isn't on here which isn't a bad thing but is my favourite track from the group (again that 12" isn't in my collection but tracking a copy is proving tricky and I know its worth the £30+ it sells for when it comes up on eBay and Discogs)

So enough of the waffling by myself and to sum it up in a word....HEAVY

You have right here a true UK Hip Hop heads collector piece and I for one am a very happy DJ right now.

One of the tracks I did for Melanin 9 on his album "Magna Carta" which I posted about earlier.

Melanin9 - White Russian Vinyl and tracks from Magna Carta

If you haven't already go and buy, what for me, was the album of 2012 by Melanin9 "Magana Carta" I can't stress how much I listen to it. I feature on 2 tracks on the album which the videos show:

Organzied Democracy

Marble

On that note I just got my 2 copies of the "White Russian" 12" from these himself and this is a true collectors piece for my collection. It's made of heavy weight vinyl and its red and black and the photos show.

The EP features the tracks:
White Russian
Magna Carta
Straight Live

With instrumentals of each on the flip as to finish off the A-Side accapellas to White Russian and Straight Live if you want to get on the remix tip or in my case use the samples for scratch hooks/word play.

This 12" got a 9.5 in the January issue of well respected DJ Mag and single of the month which goes to show the quality of this record.

You can buy the vinyl from Suspect Packges, the Anatomy Spills bandcamp page and other online record shops.

All in all this is glued to my Technics at present and will be for a while yet!

Micall Parknsun - Me, Myself & Akai

If your in to the UK scene you must have heard of Micall Parknsun by now? If not you need your head checking! The man is a true artist both with the rhymes and the beats. He has his 3rd album dropping on the 27th January titled "Me, Myself an Akai" and for the tracks that have been released and videos done for them its shaping up to be one of the albums of the year for me. I bought the "Me" 7" (White Vinyl at that!, check the picture below!) and straight away it was another Parky banger. A heavy thumping beat with a dope piano sample and Mr. Parknsun dropping the rhymes as only he can. You can also grab "Grade & Liquor" from iTunes which is a party/stoned/drinking track. After a few listens you'll find yourself wanting to song/shout along to the chorus (Yeah I felt like that) and again it thumps!
I say this a lot on Facebook/Twitter/here etc but if you like the music I post about and want the artists to live and produce more good music go support them and BUY the music!!!

So on January 27th get a slice of "Me, Myself & Akai" in your collection and headphones....

And the T-Shirts need to get a general release to, they are fresh to def!!!

DJ Madhandz - Switch It Up (2006)

Here's an old mix from 2006 that I did. It features a good mix of UK and US artists from the underground with a few cuts n scratches from myself. Again I'll be upping more mixes to mixcloud and will post them here also.
